Office Team – Website Consultant
Hello!
I had no idea what a G.O. was before my Mother holidayed Club Med Cherating Beach, Malaysia in 1981. She came home raving about her Club Med Holiday and said that with my hotel reception experience and dancing training I would fit right in and should apply! A few years later my dancing feet decided they needed to travel and I flew off to discover life as a G.O.
My first season, in 1984, I worked as a cashier in the bank at Chateau Royal, New Caledonia. I left Noumea early to take up the role of Head Cashier for the opening season of Farukolufushi, in the Maldive Islands in March 1985. Nine months working and diving in the Maldives was a dream come true! I loved working with Jean-Luc Olivero (CDV) and this fabulous GO Team! I was thrilled when Jean-Luc invited me to join his team in Les Almadies, Senegal. I had no idea where Senegal was and had to look it up on a map but I was excited to be travelling to new places and having the opportunity to explore other cultures. At the end of the season, I took the opportunity to backpack around Europe for eight months. I met up with my Mother and we had a short stay at Club Med Gregliomano, to visit my good friend Malibu!
On my return to Australia, I started work in the Club Med Sales Office and the following year I took over as the WA State Manager. I managed the Perth Office for 10 years and during this time I visited all the villages in the Asia zone and attended the opening of Lindeman Island (1992) and Bintan Island (1997). During my holidays I visited other villages in the Europe and USA regions; including Bora Bora, Moorea, Copper Mountain, St. Moritz, Val d’Isere. Working for Club Med was a wonderful life that enabled me to travel and reconnect with some of my G.O. family, as well as make new friends across the globe.
I left Club Med in 1998 to start my own business. I transitioned from hospitality and travel into the training and education sector. I commenced university as a mature student at the age of 40 and completed undergraduate and post-graduate sttudies and eventually graduated with a Doctorate of Education. I retired from paid employment as a university lecturer in 2017 and since then I have been doing volunteer work within Australia and overseas.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, crafting and travelling! My crafting passions are crochet, glass art, and resin designs. I am very happy to connect with the broader G.O. family virtually through the Forever G.O. foundation and I look forward to helping out from “downunder””.
